The Chosen Season 6 release dates: every episode, the finale film, and how to watch in India
The Chosen Season 6 starts streaming on Sunday 15 November 2026. It's the season about the crucifixion, and it covers roughly 24 hours, from the arrest in Gethsemane to the cross. There are six episodes on Prime Video, and the finale doesn't stream at all. It goes to cinemas first.
That's a lot of moving parts for one season, and most coverage blurs them. Here's the whole thing in one place.
The Chosen Season 6 release dates
- Since 15 Sep 2026: Episode 1, early access in registered churches and parishes
- Sun 15 Nov 2026: Episodes 1, 2 and 3 on Prime Video
- Sun 22 Nov 2026: Episode 4 on Prime Video
- Sun 29 Nov 2026: Episode 5 on Prime Video
- Sun 6 Dec 2026: Episode 6 on Prime Video
- Fri 12 Mar 2027: the Season 6 finale, as a feature film in cinemas
- Fri 31 Mar 2028: Season 7, the final season, in cinemas first, then on Prime Video
Two things trip people up. First, it's three episodes on launch day, not one. Second, the last part of Season 6 is a full-length film, which is why the streaming run ends in December but the story doesn't. Dallas Jenkins, who created the show, said the finale "not only deserved a season of television but a standalone full-length theatrical event as well."
Prime Video says all six episodes and the finale will launch in dozens of languages at once, rather than getting dubbed versions later.
Where to watch The Chosen Season 6
Prime Video has the season exclusively in the United States, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa. Amazon named those territories when it announced the date in April and repeated the same list with the trailer on 15 October. If you live in one of them, Seasons 1 to 5 are already on Prime Video, so you can catch up there.
India isn't on that list. Nothing has been announced either way, so treat that as "not confirmed" rather than "never". If it changes, we'll update this page.
How to watch The Chosen in India
To catch up on Seasons 1 to 5, you have more options than most people realise.
Netflix. All five seasons are on Netflix in India, with Hindi audio and subtitles listed. If you already pay for Netflix, this is the easiest way in.
Lionsgate+ on Prime Video. Lionsgate distributes The Chosen worldwide, and its Lionsgate+ channel inside Prime Video carries Seasons 1 to 5. It's an add-on on top of a Prime membership, not part of it.
The Chosen app, free. Seasons 1 to 5 are also free in The Chosen app on Android and iPhone, and the show's India site, thechosentv.in, carries English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
For Season 6 itself, there are two routes, and one of them closes soon.
Church screenings, until 15 November. Indian churches and parishes can still register to show Episode 1 in their own building before it streams anywhere. Registration is free, and churches get the streaming link, posters and a prayer-focused discussion guide. The India campaign is called Beyond the Screen: A Call to Prayer. Once the episode goes public on 15 November, that window shuts. If your church hasn't done it, this is the week to ask. We covered how the church-first release works in September.
The Chosen app, later. Season 6 will reach the free app too, but not yet. Amazon has 90 days of exclusivity, and that clock starts after the last episode streams on 6 December.
So when does it reach the app? Nobody has announced a date. Here's our working, based on last year: Season 5 arrived free in the app on 28 September 2025, as its 90-day Prime Video window closed. Count 90 days from 6 December and you land in early March 2027, a few days before the finale film opens. That's an estimate, not a promise. We'll replace it with the real date when The Chosen confirms one.
Whether Netflix or Lionsgate+ in India will get Season 6 hasn't been announced. No India release has been announced for the 12 March finale film either. Seasons 3 to 5 played in cinemas in 55 territories, so it isn't out of the question, but there's nothing official yet.
Watch the Season 6 trailer
Prime Video released the official Season 6 trailer on 15 October, after a shorter teaser in late July. It's the video at the top of this article, and it runs about two and a half minutes.
It opens with Judas spotting Mary in a Jerusalem crowd, which tells you how this season works: the story is told from the edges, by the people who love Jesus and the people who want him gone. From there it moves through the Sanhedrin trial and a city coming apart. Amazon's own description is blunt: "Before the sun sets, Jesus of Nazareth will be dead."
It's the hardest material the show has filmed, and the trailer doesn't soften it. If you're watching with younger kids, watch it yourself first.
"It was painful to shoot, and it's painful to contemplate," Jenkins has said of the season. He keeps coming back to one word for it: surrender. That's the right word for Good Friday. Jesus wasn't swept along by that day. He walked into it.
"No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord."
And Season 7?
Season 7 is the last one, and it covers the resurrection. It finished filming on 24 September, after eight years and 528 days on set. It reaches cinemas on 31 March 2028 and streams on Prime Video after that. Yes, the resurrection season was in the can before most of us have seen the crucifixion.
What Jonathan Roumie is doing next
Searches for Jonathan Roumie have tripled in the US since July, and most people are looking for one thing: what he does after playing Jesus for eight years.
The answer, right now, is a cathedral in New York. Roumie is the narrator of LUMINISCENCE, an immersive show that opened inside St. Patrick's Cathedral on Fifth Avenue on 2 October. It's a 45-minute projection show that maps the building's history across its walls, with a live choir and orchestra on some nights. It runs on select dates through mid-November, with talk of extending into 2027. Tickets start at about $44.
It's a quieter job than the cross, and that seems to be the point. Roumie grew up in New York, and the man most of the world knows as the face of Jesus is spending this autumn as a voice in the dark, telling the story of a church.
If you want more of him on screen in the meantime, he's in the Angel Studios comedy Solo Mio (released in February 2026, with Kevin James), and his four-part docuseries Jonathan & Jesus, about what playing the role has done to him, is on Prime Video.
Mark 15 November in your calendar. And if your church still has a free Sunday before then, Episode 1 is waiting.
