The Chosen wraps Season 7 filming after eight years and 528 days

The Chosen has finished filming. The production wrapped on Thursday 24 September near Dallas, Texas, after eight years, seven seasons and 528 days on set.
The series began as a crowdfunded pilot with no distribution deal and has since been watched by more than 300 million people. Season 6 covers the crucifixion and reaches Prime Video on 15 November 2026. Season 7, the last one, covers the resurrection and is expected in 2028.
Most of that final season was not shot in Texas. Season 7 spent three weeks at a Jerusalem set in Goshen, Utah County, with around 400 extras rotating through it, before the production moved on and finished in Texas.
What the cast posted
Jonathan Roumie, who has played Jesus since 2017, wrote on Instagram: "My friends ... the hour has finally come." Then he quoted Paul.
"I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith."
That is a line about dying well, written by a man who knew he was near the end. The actor who spent eight years saying the words of Jesus reached for Paul to say goodbye. He signed off: "Stay tuned. More to come, when I find the words."
The rest went quieter. Giavani Cairo, who plays Thaddeus, filmed himself taking off the costume and the sandals for the last time. Austin Reed Alleman, who plays Nathanael, posted his first day on set, 13 October 2020, beside his last, 24 September 2026, and called it a wild ride. Joey Vahedi, who plays Thomas, recorded a thank you to the people watching. Lara Silva, who plays Eden, simply congratulated the crew.
What Dallas Jenkins said
At the wrap party the creator told the room: "My eyes are a little teary from the crying I've been doing tonight, but my immense gratitude, that's the word that just keeps going over and over." He added that he will never fully understand why he was the one chosen to make it.
He described praying that morning and saying to God, "What a thing You did, what a thing You've done." The most human thing he said was smaller than any of that, and he said it himself, on camera, in the caption of the video he posted from the party. For the first time in eight years, he does not have another day of filming The Chosen hanging over his head.
Two people with sizeable followings of their own replied underneath it. Annie F. Downs, the author and podcaster, wrote: "Look what God has done." Levi Lusko, who pastors Fresh Life Church, wrote: "Congratulations for this massive work, to God be the glory. We are all better for this incredible project."
The production has also put out its own short film about the last stretch. An Emotional Look Inside Our Final Season runs eighty-three seconds on The Chosen's YouTube channel. "Filming our final season has been an emotional rollercoaster, highs and lows," the description says. "Here's a peek behind the curtain for you." It is the closest thing to being on set on one of those last days.
When does The Chosen Season 6 come out?
Season 6 premieres on Prime Video on 15 November 2026, after a run in churches first. Three episodes arrive on day one, with further episodes weekly until 6 December. The finale does not stream at all. It releases as a stand-alone theatrical film in spring 2027, distributed by Amazon MGM Studios.
"Everyone knows the basics of this part of the story, but not everyone knows the 'why' of the crucifixion," Jenkins said when the date was announced.
Can you watch The Chosen in India?
Yes, and the Indian route is its own thing. The Chosen runs a separate India site at thechosentv.in, published in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. It says every episode is free to watch in The Chosen app.
Indian churches and parishes have had more than that since 15 September. They can register to screen Season 6 Episode 1 in their own building, in what the site calls an early access showing "two months before it becomes available to stream for the rest of the world." Registration is free. Churches are sent the streaming link, posters and slides to invite a congregation, and a prayer-focused discussion guide. Episode 601 is built around prayer, which is why the India campaign is titled Beyond the Screen: A Call to Prayer. The early access window closes when the episode streams on 15 November, so a church that wants to use it has about six weeks left.
One thing has not been announced either way. Amazon's Season 6 release names the Prime Video territories as the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa, and India is not among them. That is a question about Prime Video rather than about access. In India the app and the church screenings are the route.
When is Season 7 out?
2028. Season 7 covers the resurrection and is the last one. Jenkins has said he wants to make a Joseph of Egypt miniseries, a Moses show, the animated Chosen Adventures, and eventually something on the book of Acts.
The order of all this is worth noticing. The season about the resurrection finished shooting before most of us have watched the crucifixion. The cast have already said goodbye to a story the rest of us are still in the middle of.
They know how it ends. So do we.
